The secret details of Kim Kardashian and Ray J’s settlement after the sex tape incident

Ray J Quietly Resolved Sex Tape Disagreement in 2023

Kim Kardashian and Ray J allegedly hammered out a private resolution last year about their notorious 2007 sex video.

As per TMZ, the deal was sealed by the two celebrities and their mothers, Kris Jenner and Sonja Norwood. This settlement was at the heart of Ray J’s legal action in November 2025, where he accused Kardashian and Jenner of breaking the contract by talking about the tape in Hulu’s The Kardashians.

Paying $6 Million to Settle with Kim Kardashian over Sex Tape, Reports Say

Kim Kardashian and Ray J have reportedly put an end to their ongoing conflict over their very famous 2007 sex tape in 2023, with Ray J allegedly getting $6 million as a part of the deal.

According to TMZ, the settlement, Full Confidential Settlement Agreement and Mutual General Release, was meant to settle all past and future claims, disagreements, losses, and legal issues having to do with the tape.

The pact is said to have a non-disparagement clause as well, which means that Kim Kardashian, Ray J, Kris Jenner and Sonja Norwood four of them are not allowed to “disparage or impugn the character, reputation, integrity, honesty, business or business practices” of each other.

The Settlement Over Ray J Sex Tape May Have Also Shielded Hulu and Disney

A settlement in 2023 between Kim Kardashian and Ray J in relation to their infamous sex tape reportedly also spared Disney and Hulu from any culpability, according to TMZ. Disney is the parent company of Hulu, which is the broadcasting platform for The Kardashians.

This arrangement has more recently become one of the major issues of Ray J’s legal action {against} Kardashian and Kris Jenner. Previously, in 2022 he had publicly made the claim that it was they who had released the tape.

Furthermore, Ray J {said that} the settlement was violated when Kardashian, Jenner, West and Kendall Jenner talked about the tape on the Hulu reality show virtually “at the same time when the Agreement was signed, ” as the court papers that Page Six had got hold of stated.

Ray J’s lawyers claimed that he would “never allow Kardashian and [Kris] to weaponize the judicial system, evade their contractual responsibilities, and use him as a sacrifice for the sake of their fame, ” they wrote in their court filings.

His lawsuit was the response to Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner suing him in October 2025 for defamation, following his accusations that he was collaborating with federal authorities to prepare a RICO case against them.

Kardashian and Jenner in their legal papers rejected the claims, declaring that “no such federal investigation exists.” The discord has now further exacerbated the repercussions of the alleged 2023 settlement of the notorious sex tape.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner refute Ray J’s sex tape accusations

According to a recent legal document obtained by Page Six, Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner rejected Ray J’s accusation that they planned the release of the notorious sex tape.

In her testimony, Kris described the allegations as “very insulting and wounding, ” and she revealed that as a mother, she was “really very sad, crushed and devastated” to learn that her daughter’s private moments had been made public.

Kardashian also revealed in her legal submission that due to what she claims are false allegations by Ray J, she had to incur expenses for therapy sessions, communications, legal and strategic advisors. The courtroom drama resumes with the report that the couple settled the matter last year.

Kris Jenner Are Lying in Their Sex Tape Court Battle

Ray J has vocally criticised Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner for their court filings and has accused them of distorting the truth.

“The thing is, if you lie that way under oath, don’t you go to jail? Don’t you get fined?” he told TMZ. On the contrary, his ex and her mom, in his eyes, “completely lied about everything.”

Ray J and Kardashian were in an on and off relationship from 2003 to 2006, and the release of their sex tape became widely known after their breakup. The present legal argument involves the publication of the tape and those of a 2023 settlement agreement, reportedly.
