In the statement, the Commissioner of the PGA Tour, Jay Monahan, stated, “I am literally at a loss for words.” “When you lose a member of your family, you are never the same. The PGA TOUR is a family, and when you lose a member of your family!” We are saddened by Grayson’s passing and pray for the consolation of those who were close to him.

When Murray passed away, the tour was in the Charles Schwab Challenge in 2024. Monahan said that he had gone out to the golfer’s family, and they had given their OK for the tournament to continue. Another thing that the commissioner said in his announcement was that there would be bereavement counselors available at the different locations where the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour are playing this week.

According to the statement, there was no indication of the cause of death.

This week, Murray was a participant in the Charles Schwab Challenge. He participated in the first round of the tournament and a portion of the second round before declaring his withdrawal from the competition on Friday. At the beginning of this year, the athlete triumphed in the Sony Open in Hawaii, claiming his second PGA Tour victory.

During the years 2006 to 2008, Murray was the most successful golfer in his age group, and he won three Callaway Junior World Championships in a row with consecutive victories. His first cut on the Korn Ferry Tour came when he was 16 years old, making him the second-youngest player to ever accomplish this significant accomplishment.

While playing for Leesville Road High School, he was able to win both a team and an individual state championship during his time in high school.

Wake Forest University, East Carolina University, and Arizona State University were the three universities that Murray chose to attend. As an amateur, he participated in the United States Open in 2013.

Through his tie for 74th place finish at Q School, Murray was able to obtain conditional qualification for the 2016 Web.com Tour. His entrance into the next event, in which he tied for eighth place and assured himself full playing time for the remainder of the season, was granted to him as a result of his tie for tenth place finish at the Rex Hospital Open, which took place in his home state of North Carolina at which he participated on a sponsor exemption. After finishing in the top ten four more times, including a defeat in the playoffs at the Digital Ally Open, he finished 18th on the regular-season money list, which earned him a spot on the PGA Tour schedule for 2017.
