Gareth Gates Opens up About Romance With Katie Price
Gareth Gates and Katie Price are famous for dating each other after her pregnancy with Harvey Price in February 2002, when he was on Pop Idol.
Gareth (17) lost his virginity to Katie (23) and then proposed to her, but later lied to his fans about it, breaking her heart.
In Katie’s new Sky documentary, Katie Price: Nothing to Hide, Gareth finally agrees to talk about their relationship for the first time, leaving Katie stunned to hear his side of the story.
Gareth, now 41, reveals that they met when Katie’s friend, who worked on the Pop Idol program, set up the date, and they “hit it off.” The pair would then regularly meet up at her friend’s house.

Gareth said, “She was amazing; before I actually met her, the only image that I had of her was a glamour model, a Page 3 girl, so you have this image of Page 3 girls, and she couldn’t be more different.
“She was very pretty, very soft; I felt there was something of myself in her. She was vulnerable, kind, and loving, and she was nothing like Jordan,” he said. “I got to know Katie.” I didn’t know what it was, but yes, I definitely loved her! To be in love… I think I was too young.

The couple’s relationship was eventually outed, although it was quickly denied, with Gareth’s management claiming the story would be “career-ending” for him.
“I think that’s very unfair because they see Jordan and I see Katie. They see a glamour model, a Page 3 girl. I’m a naïve virgin, and they seem to think it’s a big issue,” he said
Gareth claims he and Katie were both cool with letting the situation “die down a bit” and that they weren’t communicating as much. As Katie became engaged to Jordan in May 2001, she quickly became occupied with photo shoots while caring for Harvey, who was later discovered to be blind.
However, Katie crossed paths with Gareth again at an awards ceremony in September 2002, rekindling media speculation about a possible romance.

However, Gareth once again denied that anything happened, claiming that he met Katie only once. In the documentary, Katie states that when the problem occurred, she said, “All of a sudden everyone takes his side, and I’m branded a liar. I’m like the nutcase of it all.”
That was too much for Katie, and she went on to interview with the press regarding her relationship with Gareth. She exposed all the intimate details about their relationship, embarrassing the young pop star. She continued expressing her feelings about the whole situation by saying. “I was left in the lurch, and it really hurt me. It’s pure lies being said about me, and I am like, “If you hurt me, I’ll get you back.”
She also says that she planned the interview because “if they hurt me, I will get them back by telling the truth; it’s revenge.” According to the documentary, Gareth said about reading the newspaper story, “She betrayed me by selling the story. I felt quite hurt and shocked that it happened.”

“Firstly, because of the sense of betrayal, but it was more than that; I’d denied this to some of the closest people around me, and I couldn’t really forgive myself for that.”
The camera re-focuses on Katie as the interviewer mentions that she “humiliated” Gareth. She replies, “Yeah, I’m sure it did affect him at the time because I was young; I went into all this detail
“That’s a moment that I wish never happened. Yes, I wish that I didn’t go into detail about that, but I did. And if only I could turn back time, I wish that I never took his virginity for his sake.“I just sometimes wish he could have saved it for somebody that he loved and could have had a relationship with.”
