Celine Dion Cries at N.Y.C Documentary Premiere: Dion Receives Standing Ovation, Thanks Her Children!
Céline Dion revealed the forthcoming documentary that would be centered on her life with tears in her eyes. She presented the film and thanked everyone involved, including her children, at the New York City premiere of I Am: Celine Dion, a forthcoming documentary that will be available on Prime Video. The documentary will take viewers inside the life of the iconic musician and her fight against stiff-person syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological illness. As soon as the “Queen of Power Ballads” made her way to the platform to give a short speech about the documentary, she was greeted with a resounding round of applause.
It was at the beginning of her address that she expressed her gratitude to her doctor, Dr. Amanda Piquet, as well as to the documentary director, Irene Taylor Brodsky. It was also the biggest crowd that Dion, who is 56 years old, has ever performed in front of in the years that she had been performing.
It goes without saying that I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the love and support that I get on a daily basis from my amazing children. René-Charles, who is 23 years old, and twins Nelson and Eddy, who are 13 years old, are the three boys that Dion had with her late husband, René Angélil.
“I am grateful to you, René-Charles. It is my pleasure, Nelson. I appreciate it, Eddy. As the crowd continued to enthusiastically applaud, she expressed her gratitude by saying, “Thank you very much.”
She proceeded by saying, “And I would like to express my gratitude to you, my fans; your presence in my journey has been an unfathomable gift.” It is because of your unending love and support for all of the problems that I have arrived at this point in time.
“One of the tales that you will hear from me in this movie is about how I was reading about my illness and came to know about it. I made a comparison between myself and an apple, and I’m not saying this because we’re in New York; I found myself comparing myself to an apple. She made a joke about it, saying, “Oh, it sounds like we made it up, but I did, and I was going to Las Vegas.”
“When I said to myself that I compared myself to an apple from a tree, [I said], ‘I don’t want you [fans] to wait in line anymore if I don’t have any shiny apples for you,'” she said. “I compare myself to an apple from a tree.” It was a couple of days ago that I came across a note from a fan that said, “We’re not here for the apple but for the apple itself.” To tell you the truth, we are here.'”
